Citizen complaint system

How your complaint gets resolved

tnmla.in isn't just a form that disappears into an inbox. Every complaint is verified, checked for spam, recorded against your constituency, sent to your MLA's office and tracked end-to-end with a reference number — so you always know where things stand.

The process, step by step

From the moment you submit to the moment your MLA responds.

  1. 1

    You describe the issue

Fill in your name, a phone number, your constituency, a category (roads, water, electricity, sanitation, healthcare and more) and a clear description — with photos or a PDF attached if it helps make the case. You get a reference number (like TNC-2026-a1b2c3) to track it.

  2. 2

    We confirm it's really you

A verification link lands in your inbox. Clicking it confirms the complaint is genuine and not a typo'd email — nothing moves forward until you verify.

  3. 3

    Automated spam and duplicate checks

Every submission is screened for bot activity and checked against other recent complaints from the same person and constituency, so repeat or automated noise doesn't bury real issues — and if you're re-reporting something that's still unresolved, that's flagged for the reviewer, not blocked.

  4. 4

    TNMLA reviews it

Our team checks that the complaint is complete, genuine, and filed against the right constituency before it's assigned — this is the quality gate before anything reaches an MLA's desk.

  5. 5

    It's assigned to your MLA

Once approved, the complaint is recorded against your constituency. The Pallavaram MLA is on the TNMLA dashboard, so it appears there with your description, category and attachments, and the MLA's office is notified by email.

  6. 6

Your MLA's office acts on it

The MLA's office marks it in progress, and responds with what they've done or found — resolved, or, if it genuinely can't be taken forward, declined with a reason.

  7. 7

    You're notified by email

Every status change — assigned, in progress, resolved or declined — triggers an email to you, and you can look up the current status anytime with your reference number and email.

How we actually help find a solution

Filing a complaint anywhere is easy. Getting it in front of the person who can fix it, with enough detail that they can act, is the hard part — that's what this system is built for.

Matched to the right office

Your complaint goes to the correct, currently-sitting MLA for your constituency — not a generic inbox.

Evidence travels with it

Photos and documents stay attached, so the MLA's office sees the actual problem, not just a description.

Nothing gets lost

A public reference number means you and TNMLA can both look up any complaint, anytime.

A clear timeline

Every step is logged — when it was filed, reviewed, assigned, and responded to.

Common questions

How long does it take to hear back?

It varies by MLA and the nature of the issue. Verification and review typically happen within a few days; how quickly an MLA's office responds after assignment is up to their office, not tnmla.in.

Why do you need my phone number?

So your MLA's office can reach you directly if they need more detail to act on your complaint — a photo, an exact address, or a quick clarifying question. It's only shared with TNMLA and the MLA's office handling your case, never published.

What if my MLA's office doesn't respond?

There's no guaranteed response time — MLA offices handle a high volume of requests. Your complaint stays on record with its full status history either way, and you can always check its status with your reference number.

Is tnmla.in an official government complaint system?

No. tnmla.in is an independent, citizen-run civic transparency portal — not run by the Election Commission or the Tamil Nadu Government. We route complaints to MLAs as a public service, not as a statutory grievance channel.

Can I submit a complaint without an email or phone number?

No — both are required. The email confirms you're a real person and is how we send status updates; the phone number lets the MLA's office reach you directly if they need more information.

Can I attach evidence?

Yes — up to 3 files, images (JPG, PNG, WEBP) or a PDF, 5MB each.

Ready to raise your issue?

It takes about two minutes, and you'll get a reference number to track it from here on.
